Surbaugh was accused of falsifying the reports to help the teens get into the prestigious, private Huntington Prep School in West Virginia, the second-highest-ranked prep school in the country according to US News & World Report, where Surbaugh enrolled her students as a non-matriculated student. Huntington Prep, an all-boys school, requires students to apply to attend and is considered an elite institution with a high-ranked academics and athletics program. “Lisa’s actions are in clear violation of our policy regarding the use of school resources and for endangering the well-being of her students,” said Mark Cupp, Superintendent of the Kanawha County Schools district. The scandal, which only came to light after Huntington Prep administrators found the falsified pregnancy reports, unfolded over at least a year and a half. Law enforcement launched an investigation in September 2015 and revealed that the false reports were sent from Surbaugh’s home computer, according to a report. “I was in shock.
